Who We Are
Father Jason Blahnik
Catholic Campus Ministry Director
Fr. Jason is originally from Door County. He attended the University of Arkansas, where he had a profound conversion experience. Fr. Jason went to seminary after college and was ordained in 2009. He loves Jesus Christ, the Church, and being a Catholic priest.
Sara Scheunemann, a native of Wisconsin, is excited to return to her home state to join the UW Oshkosh Newman Center. If someone would pay her to be a full-time student, she would go to school forever. The next best thing is serving college students and faculty, which she has done with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, the University of Dayton, and Indiana Wesleyan University. Sara has a master’s degree in Christian spirituality from Creighton University and is a spiritual director.
Angela Bisek is the Music Director at the Newman Center. She is the mother of a beautiful 8-year-old girl, Elie. Angela graduated from UW Oshkosh in 2004 with an Instrumental and General Music Education degree. Angela was actively involved with the Newman Center while attending the university and is very excited to be giving back for all she received.
FOCUS Team Director
My name is Kyle Hanson. I have a wife, Lisa, and a 1-year-old son, Kolbe. We are expecting our second in January! I am a native to Green Bay and went to Southwest High School and graduated with an engineering degree from Michigan Tech in 2012. I worked for an engineering firm in Appleton before joining FOCUS in 2014 and served at the University of North Texas and Franciscan University before coming back home to Wisconsin!
My name is Brittany Beck, and I am a 2nd year missionary with FOCUS. I graduated from St. Cloud State University in MN with my B.S. of Business, Marketing. I love traveling, hiking, making music, and teaching fitness classes. I was Wisconsin born, Minnesota raised, and excited to be back in my home state!
Hello! My name is Sarah Knopik, and I grew up on a farm in southwest North Dakota, skipping rocks, chasing cows, and running around barefoot. My family is quite large, and growing always! I was raised in a devout Catholic family, but I didn’t see the true beauty of the Church until college. At the NDSU Newman Center (Go Bison!) during my undergrad, I encountered joyful young adults who were on fire for the Faith. I became involved and sought a deep relationship with Christ through prayer, the Sacraments, Bible studies, discipleship, mission trips, and FOCUS conferences. I became somewhat of a retreat junkie, but over time, it was less about me and more about encountering Jesus and loving others on retreat. Now, as a FOCUS Missionary, I get to spend my time loving students and inviting them into a relationship with Christ! As I strive for sainthood, you will most often find me dancing, singing, sporting it up, playing cards, drinking coffee, and reading about the Saints!
